Siblings Reunited

When Shaun & I picked up Lanie to take her home for the first time, it broke our hearts to make her leave two of her siblings behind that were waiting to be adopted. We wondered if she would miss them and for how long...

Months later when we were at Lanie's favorite dog park, Magnuson, we found our answer. As we were walking the trail down to the water, Shaun saw a dog with Lanie's same precious face. When I looked, I knew exactly who it was...little Drew from Lanie's litter. He's very recognizable due to his short, stumpy legs. :) But to our surprise, Lanie & Drew (now known as Murphy) were not that interested in each other. After a quick sniff, they were on to the next dog passing by.

I guess they're both happy in their new homes and lives. We are lucky to have such sweet little puppies to call ours. :)

Go Seahawks! :)

Football season is upon us...which means I lose my fiancé to the Seahawks until January and also have to pick between my loyalty to two teams. Coming from living in San Diego and working for the Chargers, my natural instinct is to root for the Bolts. However, Shaun's love for the Seahawks is rubbing off on me, not to mention my love for this city. So is it permissible to cheer on two sports teams...Shaun thinks not. :) Although they are in different divisions...so I think yes. :)

I guess my philosophy will work up until week three of the season.

6 Month Old Puppy

Our little miss Lanie turns 6 months old tomorrow! When we first adopted her, we were prepared for her to grow to be one big girl since we thought she was part Mastiff...I even bought the biggest crate the pet store had to offer that now takes up half of our living room. ;-) But as months go by, we realize more and more that Lanie definitely isn't going to get that big. Currently, she is weighing in under 50 lbs and we'll be surprised if she hits 60 lbs before she stops growing. Our favorite new game is to guess what kind of dog she might be...and our current guess is she may have some Beagle in her. We might need to spring for the genetics test at some point to put this curiosity to rest.

But even though Lanie is small, she is full of energy, love and has us wrapped around her little paw. She can also destroy a stuffed toy in under 1 minute flat...she's very talented. Although, she hasn't destroyed any of our things yet with the exception of a few holes in our area rug. :) Lanie loves her tennis balls, playing with her best friends Tycen & Sully and days in Gig Harbor. We have also introduced her to Magnuson Park's off-leash area that she LOVES. I think she'll be a little swimmer by summer's end.

Fiesta Camping Trip

Every summer a group of our friends, also known as 'Fiesta', like to plan a group trip to get us all together. Last year we did a houseboat adventure on Lake Roosevelt which was a TON of fun...but also a TON of work to organize. So this year, we decided to do something a little less complicated by planning a camping trip to Salmon La Sac near Cle Elum, WA. It's a short two hour drive from Seattle and is a great little camping spot on a river. The group was a bit smaller this year due to other commitments, but we still had a blast! It was also Lanie's first experience camping...and she loved every second of it. :)

Mama Sire Visit

Every year a in July, Shaun has his annual Boat Races trip with the boys in the Tri-Cities. So this year, my mom decided to make a spur of the moment trip to hang with Lanie & me while Shaun was away. It was a nice few days of relaxing and doing what my mom and I love to do when we're together...shop, lunch at the Nordstrom Cafe, manis & pedis, watch girl movies, catch-up, etc. This time around, we also threw in a visit to Port Ludlow to see Shaun & my wedding venue! It was so nice having my mom in town and definitely helped the time pass while Shaun was away...a little anyway. :)
